Watch this space. He is young and beautiful. Poor mite has a few nicks and knocks, but nothing major. And he is going into foster with Mark and Karla. Photos to follow very shortly..... and a name... 8-)

Not much to report as yet because he hasn't served his 7 days so can't come out until Wednesday, but Mark & Dexter did go up to see him this morning and take a few pictures ;D

By all accounts he's a little sweetheart :-* Dexter had a blast playing with him in the kennels field and he seems to have a great temperament with other dogs. He's about 25" tts, a little bit skinny and has a few cuts & scraps on his legs and rear end but his teeth are beautiful and white and he's generally very healthy.

We've arranged to pick him up at 4pm on Wednesday so I'll give a proper update then.

We're pretty sure we're going to call him Ronnie ;D

Here's a few pictures of the gorgeous boy :-*

Well Ronnie is in and seems fairly settled so far. He's met all the other doggies without any issues and even had a little play with Dexter :-* He's currently wondering around the house sniffing everywhere and inspecting everything! He seems to be a lovely natured dog and doesn't appear to have any hang ups or be scared of anything - happy for either Mark or I to make a fuss of him, in fact he rather likes it ;)

We're off to the vet's in a minute to get him checked and then will take them all out for a walk when it cools down more so I'll update properly later on.

Just to keep you all going here's a quick picture of the beautiful fella xx

Sorry Mark there is zero feathering with this chap :P just plain old saluki x. He is however a very gorgeous boy - not only in looks but in temperament too!

I did write a lovely update on this lad last night but I obviously wasn't with it as I managed to shut down the browser page without posting it first.... what a donut!! ::) So I will try to remember what I wrote and give it another attempt!

Ronnie is an absolute poppet :-* Mark picked him up from the dog warden yesterday and brought him home. He didn't want to get in the truck but once in he settled quickly and travel well. I kept all my guys in the garden when they got home and Mark brought Ronnie through and let him off lead to meet them all outside. He was a bit shell shocked at them all and didn't really know where to put himself and his tail shot between his legs for a moment.... but it didn't take him long to gain a bit of confidence and relax in their company. Dexter did his usual of barking in his face and nudging him but Ronnie didn't bat an eyelid he just got on with sniffing all the new smells in this strange garden 8-) He then calmly introduced himself to all the dogs one by one and let them all sniff him all over. Job done, my guys took themselves off to wherever they wanted to be and Ronnie came over to meet me and get cuddles ;D

We then left him to his own devises for an hour and he trotted all over the house checking everything out. He is a master counter surfer and has pretty much licked the entire work surface in the kitchen ::) He is very unsure of stairs. He made it up them by himself but had a total panic about coming down so I had to carry him in the end....

We took him to our vets last night for a check up etc. Again he was very unsure about getting in the car so we lifted him in and he settled quickly enough once he was in - we took Vinnie along to keep him company ;) Camilla our vet gave him a thorough check over and there is some good news & a little bit of not so good news..

The good news is that he is generally very healthy - extremely good strong steady heart beat and healthy lungs. His teeth are perfect pearly whites so we don't think he's much more than a year old. We were a little concerned that he wasn't seeing properly as he wasn't looking at us and used his nose for everything instead but she's checked his sight and it seems perfectly fine so I guess he's just not confident to look us in the eye yet :-/

Now for the not so good news - when we first watched him walk we realized that something wasn't quite right. He has very bowed back legs and splayed feet and walks like a swaggering cowboy with his feet pointing in and his knees pointing out :( His spine is also slightly concave so his shoulders & hips stick up and his back slopes down and he almost crouches when he moves. Camilla has checked all his joints and bones and she doesn't believe that any of this is causing him any pain or discomfort so the thinking is that he was probably kept in a too small crate from a young age and not developed properly. There is a good chance he was bred for working and started far to young so over-exercised before the bones had formed - combine that with inadequate rest & comfort and this is the outcome. The positive side to all this is that given time he will probably straighted out and be absolutely fine so please don't be put off by any of this I just wanted to explain how he is at the moment.

He's pretty undernourished too and quite de-hydrated so he needs to gain a few kilo's to get himself fit and healthy again. Having a good diet and proper exercise will also help his posture and go a long way to making him whole again :-* As he's not of fighting fit weight yet we're not going to neuter him for a couple of weeks as we don't want to risk a GA with him like this. It'll only take a couple of weeks though to get him ready for his man op ;) so let's just hope he doesn't turn into Mr Humpalot in the meantime ::)

He's had a good dose of stronghold as he's got pretty scabby skin and we don't want to take any risks and I'm going to bath him in the anti-fungal shampoo today. He's also been wormed so will keep an eye on the deposits today.

He had a lovely walk with the others last night and he desperately wanted to run & play with them but no off leading for him just yet... Mark took all ours back in the car and I walked Ronnie home to see what he was like on the lead & with traffic etc. To be fair he did really well, he is a bit of a puller but that's mainly because he really doesn't seem to understand what a collar & lead is all about. He weaves around you rather than walking by your side. He was a little weary of the traffic but certainly not scared so with a little exposure he'll be fine.

We fed him separately last night as he did have a bit of a grumble at the others when we gave him some food but that'll settle down in no time. We had an early night and went up to bed about 10.30-11pm and he settled down perfectly next to Vinnie and slept right through until I got up at 6am this morning. Even then he wasn't really bothered about getting up so a pretty relaxed fella me thinks :D he ate his breakfast no problem and then I stood in the garden with him for about 3/4 hour until he finally gave in and had a wee... huge praise for that one as it's only his second wee since being with us :(

All in all he seems a wonderful little dog and we are looking forward to bringing him on and making him shine ;D

I have taken lots of pictures of him but they are on my home pc (and I'm at work.....sssshhh!!) so I'll upload those tonight.

Aaawww, poor boy with his bones - wonder if he had growing pains with them too? There is also a condition called 'Physitis' which can affect their bones when growing and how they develop.

Hope it corrects itself over time, but in the meantime I can't wait to watch him flourishing in your care and some pics too :-*.

Looking at the way Paddy's legs have sorted themselves out gives a lot of hope that Ronnie's bones and muscles will too. Fingers crossed. 8-) 8-)

We've had a good day with Ronnie and he's settling in really well :-*

Mark took him out with him this morning for about an hour and he was as good as gold sitting in the truck and meeting a customer very politely ;) We then left all 6 of them for half an hour and absolutely no problems to report so hopefully no sign of SA with him.

We've been out an about this evening for a lovely walk - poor fella is desperate to run around with the other boys but as he's still throwing a bit of a deaf ear we're not risking the off lead just yet. We popped him on a long line though and let him have a mini run around which has wiped him out ;D and now they are all snuggled up on various beds snoring soundly :-*

Here's the pictures that I promised xx

This kind of shows the bowness of his legs & the arching of his back.

Wonderfully detailed update Karla and omg what a stunner he is :-* ;D. Poor boy, to think of what he's been through but hopefully young enough to make a full recovery.

He's in just right place now to receive everything he needs and in abundance :D. Cant wait to meet this little fella 8-).
